About Narayaneeyam:

Narayaneeyam is a medieval-era Sanskrit text, offering a poetic summary of the Bhāgavata Purana, composed by Melpathur Narayana Bhattathiri (1560–1666 AD), a celebrated Sanskrit poet in Kerala. The Bhagavata Purana, a major Hindu scripture, comprises about 18,000 verses, primarily dedicated to the worship of Krishna.

The Narayaneeyam condenses the Bhagavata Purana into 1034 verses, divided into one hundred Dasakams. It holds a significant place in Sanskrit literature due to both its intense devotional fervor and extraordinary literary merit. Narayaneeyam is revered in Kerala and Tamil Nadu, often recited collectively during festivals and gatherings.
